Submarine bosssssssssss

A manned submarine has for the first time dived more than 10 kilometres to the bottom of the deepest part of the South Pacific Ocean. This is the second-deepest point in the world, and located in the Tongan Trench.

When the Japanese scientists got to the bottom they found the extravagantly named supergiant hadal amphipod, alicella gigantean. This creature looks prawn-like and is about 20 cm in length.

Fish, shrimps and other organisms living near and in the seabed were sampled.

The deepest point of the ocean, the Challenger Deep in the Mariana Trench in the North Pacific, reaches a maximum depth of 10,911 meters.

Giant ffiiiiiissshhhh

A massive 5m long Oarfish has been found on the California coast.

Jasmine Santana , a marine scientist, was snorkelling off the southern California coast when he spotted the silvery carcass of the serpent-like oarfish.

Santana needed 15 helpers to drag the giant sea creature with eyes the size of tennis balls to shore.

Staffers at the institute are calling it the discovery of a lifetime.

Oarfish dive to a depth of around 900m, and because sightings are rare, they are largely unstudied.

The fish apparently died of natural causes.

Billionaire by an iPhone app?

An iphone app created by a British teenager has been bought by Yahoo in a deal thought to be worth about $70m NZD.

Yahoo have purchased the Summly app, which was designed and made by its 17 year old creator Nick D’Aloisio. the app works by summarising articles into small 400 word segments.

The app reached No 9 in the free iPhone app chart last November.

Speaking to media yesterday, D’Aloisio said he would probably buy a new computer and trainers with some of the money from the sale, “I just want to save and bank it. I don’t have many living expenses,” he added.

“When I founded Summly at 15, I would have never imagined being in this position so suddenly.”

Summly’s features will now be used by Yahoo, where D’Aloisio will now work, as well as studying for his school exams.

Although this hit new track does not involve a crazy dance, it does have some catchy yet absurd lyrics that will surprisingly get stuck in your head for days!

The two Ylvis brothers have based this song around the different sounds that animals make (Dog goes woof, cat goes meow) before asking, “What does the Fox say?” They answer this question as they attempt to mimic the fox through series of shrieks and screeches such as “we-pa-pa-pa-pa-powl” and “Chacha-chacha-chacha-chacha-chowl!”

Although this song has only recently been realised the Ylvis brothers are not new to the music scene, as have been making comedy songs since 2000.
However with more than 17 million hits on YouTube with this popular foxy tale, we wouldn’t be surprised if the Ylvis brothers become a popular name in the industry of comedy music.
